Things are very soggy around here, and we're being told to conserve the electricities, so here's a super abbreviated post. When my Dad heard that many parts of our happy little midwestern town--including the facility that houses my husband's research--were flooded, he called me and said: "Glub, glub! Do you know what glub, glub means?" To which I replied: "That means they're in the water!" It put a happy twist on a crummy day.
I also love this video because it proves that I've always had trouble with math. And, apparently, speaking. I've watched other versions on youtube and I'm pretty sure that I just made up my own melody, too. And no version of the lyrics I've ever seen says "lincoln logs" (it's usually "hollow logs" or "great big log"). I think that was my own classy invention. Here's a quasi-transcript of the family video gold:
Dadoo: Manda, sing the song!
Five little speckled frog
Sitting on some lincoln logs
Eating the most delicious bugs (Yum, yuuuuum)
One dove into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Now there....
Manda: I don't how many this is.
Collie: (whispered) Four.
VERSE
(Manda begins to garble another verse in the background)
Dadoo: Put your book down so we can see you, Col. Thanks. Manda, can I ask you a question?
Manda: What?
Dadoo: Could you say your ABC's for us?
Manda: Wait.
Dadoo: Let's hear you say your ABC's.
Manda: I'm not done yet!
Dadoo: Oh, okay. Go, ahead.
Manda: (deep breath, then) I don't what this many is.
Collie: (whispered) Two.

Manda: I know what the other (something something) is.
